DUE JULY 17th - ISN Skilled Trade & Tech Scholarships

 Inspection Support Network Skilled Trade and Technology Scholarships


Description:  A $2,000 scholarship is awarded four times a year to eligible students.  Growing demand and lack of qualified workers in skilled trades and technology means it's a great time to go back to school and enter these lucrative and fast-growing industries.

Eligibility: 

  • You must be 18 or over and be planning to enroll in community college, undergraduate, technical college or vocational porgram during 2021-22 academic year in the US
  • Minimum 3.4 gpa
  • Pursue a degree that enables you or others in your community to learn a new trade, develop skills and technology, or start a small business related to home services offered by ISN.

How are winners selected? 

Winners will be drawn at random from all eligible entries shortly after the application deadline.

DUE MAY 9 - TRANSCENDING BGM SCHOLARSHIP

TRANSCENDING Black Girl Magic Scholarship


Deadline:  May 9, 2021


Description:  $1,300 scholarship will be awarded.  No matter your post secondary pursuits, this scholarship is designed to help a young black girl from the State of Michigan or Illinois, where the ladies on our line are from, transcend any limitations and succeed this fall.  

Eligibility:

  • Current black female senior graduating HS this year
  • Residing in Michigan or Illinois
  • Minimum 2.75 gpa
  • Proof of enrollment in trade school, community college, or four year university.

 


DUE APRIL 30 - SOCIETY OF WOMEN ENGINEERS SCHOLARSHIP

Society of Women Engineers - Southwest Michigan Section. 

2021 Christine Strain Memorial Scholarship. 

 

Deadline:  5pm on April 30, 2021

Description:  $1,000 Scholarship.  

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must identify as female
  • Applicant must be accepted by a college into an Engineering, Computer Science, or Technology program.
  • Applicant is a problem solver, leader, and a role model within her community.
  • Applicant should be an example to other students by being involved in extracurricular activities in school and in the community.
  • Applicant must be a resident within the following counties in Michigan: Cass, Berrien, or VanBuren
  • Applicant must apply the scholarship towards her undergraduate studies at an ABET or ACCJC accredited college during the 2021-2022 school year.  (Eligible applicants include current high school senior students who will be enrolled in an undergraduate ABET or ACCJC accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Techonology program during the 2021-22 school year).

DUE APRIL 30 - LITTLE ITALY SCHOLARSHIP

 Little Italy Historical Park Project Scholarship

Deadline:  April 30th

Description:  $500. The Little Italy Historical Part Project Scholarship is for students who have a partial Italian ancestry and enrolled in a college or trade school for the Fall 2021.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Minimum 3.0 gpa
  • Applicants must be of at least partial Italian ancestry
  • Be enrolled at a college or trade school for the upcoming fall semester.

DUE MARCH 15 - WMU FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

Western Michigan University - Foundation Scholarship


Deadline:  February 15, 2021 Deadline extension:  March 15, 2021

Description:  $64,000 over four years/$16,000 per year.  This scholarship can only be used at WMU.  To be considered, the following must be complete: WMU institutional application or Common App (including WMU supplement), official high school transcript, $40 application fee or fee waiver received, US citizens and permanent residents must file the FAFSA. 

Eligibility:

  • Minimum 3.7 gpa
  • Have a verified financial need based on one or more of the following criteria
    • Student if enrolled in or eligible to participate in the federal Free or Reduced Price Lunch program
    • Student is a ward of the state, an orphan, or in foster care
    • Student is homeless, as determined by their district's McKinney-Vento Liason
    • Student is undocumented
  • Please note that the GPA and financial need criteria are the minimum criteria for consideration. The foundation scholarship is highly competitive and selective, and not all students who meet the consideration criteria will be awarded.

DUE MARCH 15 - WMU MLK G.O.L.D SCHOLARSHIP

 Western Michigan University - MLK G.O.L.D. Scholarship


Deadline:  February 15, 2021 Deadline extension:  March 15, 2021

Description:  $32,000 over four years/$8,000 per year.  This scholarship can only be used at WMU.  To be considered, the following must be complete: WMU institutional application or Common App (including WMU supplement), official high school transcript and $40 application fee or fee waiver received.  

Eligibility:

  • Minimum 3.0 gpa
  • Admission to WMU
  • Meet at least 2 of the following criteria:
  1. Eligible for participation in the Federal Free or Reduced Price lunch program
  2. First Generation college student
  3. Participation in a pre-college/bridge or migrant education program.  Pre-college/bridge programs include, but are not limited to, the following TRiO Programs:  Education Opportunity Center, GEAR UP, Talent Search, or Upward Bound.  Letter of verification from director or the pre-college, migrant, or TRiO program is required.

Description:  A one-time $750 gift by the Rotary Club for a deserving male or female who intends to enroll in college.  This monetary award will be paid each fall upon presentation of actual school enrollment.

School Employers Trust (SET) School Employers Group (SEG) Skilled Trade Scholarship



Deadline:  April 19, 2021

Description:  $500 scholarship.  A scholarship opportunity is available to MI public high school seniors who have participated in a career and technical education program.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a Michigan resident
  • Must be a high school senior attending a Michigan public school
  • Must have been enrolled in a Career and Technical Education program (and provide transcript)
  • Must be enrolled in or plan to enroll in an accredited two-year college, technical school or other accredited technical institute in the next 12 months.

DUE APRIL 23 - ASM MATERIALS SCI SCHOLARSHIP

American Society for Metals - Notre Dame Chapter - Materials Science Scholarship



Deadline:  April 23, 2021

Description:  $500 scholarship, minimum

Eligibility:

  • The chosen field of study should lead to a technical degree in materials or materials related field, for example; B.S. Material Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Ceramics, etc.
  • The selection committee will evaluate the applicant based on numerous factors, included but not limited to: motivation, scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities, interest in the field, potential.

DUE APRIL 12 - HARRINGTON ORTHO SCHOLARSHIP

Harrington Orthodontic Scholarship



Deadline:  April 12, 2021 (must be postmarked)

Description: A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded by Harrington Orthodontics.

Eligibility:  Any college-bound high school senior who has had orthodontic treatment with Harrington Orthodontics, completes a one page essay entitled "How I have benefited from Orthodontic Treatment," and submits the appropriate endorsed entry form is eligible.  Employees of Harrington Orthodontics and their immediate families are ineligible.

St. Joseph/Benton Harbor Rotary Track Scholarship

Description:  Three $2,000 scholarships will be awarded.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a senior, enrolled in a Berrien County HS
  • Must be a participant in either track or cross country this school year
  • Minimum 3.0 gpa
  • Student must be planning to attend a junior college or four-year college in the Fall (participation in track or cross county NOT a requirement at that school)
  • Student must complete all information requested on the application form provided
  • INTERVIEW REQUIRED (April 23rd)

Michigan Retailers Association Scholarship

Deadline:  April 1, 2021

Description:  At least 26 scholarships will be awarded ranging from $1,000 to $1,500.  The awards are not based on financial need.

Eligibility:

  • The student or his/her parent must be employed at a store that is a member of Michigan Retailers Association.  To find out if a particular business is an MRA member, students or parents should check with their employer or call MRA's Mrs. Schrauben at 800-366-3699, ext. 346.

4rd Annual Jordan Parsons Memorial Athletic Scholarship

Description:  Up to $2,000 in scholarship money will be awarded.

Eligibility: 

  • Berrien Springs High School Senior
  • One letter of recommendation
  • 2+ sport athlete minimum
  • Minimum 2.5 gpa
  • Must type a brief essay (750 words) which talks about career goal inspiration, activities other than sports and two reasons why they should receive this scholarship.
  • All requirements must be met or application will not be reviewed.

 Notre Dame Federal Credit Union Scholarship



Deadline:  March 31, 2021

Description:  24 $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating HS and current college students. 

Eligibility:

  • Must be a US citizen 
  • Must be planning to attend an accredited undergraduate institution full time 
  • Demonstrate need for financial assistance to attend college
  • Meet academic requirements as detailed in the application
  • Applicant or parent of applicant must be a Notre Dame FCU member and have an account in good standing with Notre Dame FCU no later than March 15, 2021

DUE MARCH 19 - SENIOR EXCELLENCE AWARD

Deadline:  March 19, 2021 (hand deliver application to Mrs. Siewert)

Description:  1 - $2,500 and 3 - $500 scholarships available to Berrien Springs High School seniors.  

Every student applying is evaluated by BSHS staff on these specific qualifications:

  • Dependability 
  • Resourcefulness
  • Exerts positive influence on others
  • Held leadership positions in organizations and committees
  • Shows qualities of good citizenship in his/her attitude with others
  • Shows qualities of good citizenship in his/her respect toward others (person, property, and authority), school, community and nation
  • Shows qualities of good citizenship in his/her supportiveness of other people, the school, community, the nation
  • Displays qualities of good citizenship in his/her willingness to cooperate with others.

Be prepared to interview on April 14 or April 15.

DUE MARCH 31 - LEON MILLER ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP

 

Deadline:  March 31, 2021.  Email completed applications to: ehaygood76@gmail.com

Description:  One $750 scholarship will be awarded. This scholarship was created to honor the late Leon Miller.  Leon was a longtime Berrien Springs community member, parent and grandparent of Berrien Springs Public Schools graduates, and an avid fan of Shamrock athletic programs.  His favorite place to be was watching a Friday night game under the lights at Sylvester Stadium.  This scholarship will be given to the Berrien Springs graduate who best exhibits and embodies the attitude, discipline and hard work it takes to be a successful high school athlete.

 Eligibility:

  • 2.5 or above gpa
  • BSHS graduating senior (also includes 5th year Early Middle College graduates)
  • Participated in at least 2 complete athletic seasons for BSHS
  • This scholarship may be used at a vocational/trade school, community college, or 4 year college/university for tuition, books and fees
  • Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the post-secondary institution 

 

Requirements for Submission:

  • Scholarship application
  • HS transcript
  • Copy of post-secondary institution acceptance letter
  • Letter of recommendation from an athletic coach
  • One page typed personal essay stating your post-secondary goals and how this scholarship will help you achieve these goals.  Please include how your participation in athletics at BSHS has shaped you into the person you are today.
